#38: Adverbs by Daniel Handler
This book was given great reviews by Dave Eggers and Michael Chabon on its back cover and although I enjoyed part of the book, I didn’t love it the way I hoped I would. I picked this up on a whim last week, thinking “that’s cute”, which it was, it just seemed like Handler tried a bit too hard. He’s able to mix up plenty of adverbs and story lines quiet well, but half the time I couldn’t follow who was who. In the end, there is a strong possibility that while trying to read this book I was taking heavy sinus medication, decided to watch a little more TV than usual, had a million other things going on, and just didn’t get it. But that’s life.
