#22: Rant by Chuck Palahniuk
I honestly have no idea what made me pick up this book, but looking back, it might have been the cover. I mean, it’s a cool cover, right? [Don’t lie to yourself, we all pick up books because of what they look like!] The only Palahniuk I had ever read was Diary and half of Choke, but I thought Rant was alright. It’s told in the form of an oral history in which various people describe one guy named Rant Casey. The book is pretty easy to read and moves quickly, but the story never got as crazy as I hoped. I always think of Palahniuk as some outlandish writer and although this tale was supposed to be pretty twisted, I was never truly surprised. The book, I believe, was also supposed to make the reader think more about conspiracy theories and time-space continuum. However, even though I can say I enjoyed myself while reading Rant I have a feeling it will be forgettable.
