#54: The Wizard of Oz by Frank Baum
I just returned from a very pleasant evening. It was spent with a five year old girl who loves nothing more than The Wizard of Oz. She knows the entire movie by heart, but tonight we read the book - the whole book - out loud. We sat there eating clementines and talking about why there weren’t people made of china in the movie, why quadlings had to be protected by giants without arms, and why you have to get in a bathtub if you see a tornado. These are all crucial questions for anyone who cares about Oz. So if you get the chance, sit down with a kid figure it all out. I promise it’s waaaaaayyyyyy better than watching those scary flying monkeys.
Side note: This girl looked very confused when I started singing Ease on Down the Road. I’ll explain that next time.
