Four Tops - Bernadette
I can’t even look at the book I’m reading without internally (or usually externally) screaming along to this song. I also like to add the snaps when appropriate, but it turns out that’s all times.
“BERNADETTE!”

Library Voices - If Raymond Carver Were Born in the 90’s
* turn your volume up *
I complain to everyone about the noise of my neighborhood. It has kept me up at night and generally been awful all summer. But this guy is new around here. And I love him.
Today after working late, coming down with a head cold, and dealing with a broken subway, this was just what I needed. I grabbed my book, sprawled out on the couch, opened the window, and listened to my corner musician. Sometimes the noise isn’t so bad.
Nick Drake - One of These Things First
I could have been a sailor
Could have been a cook
A real live lover
Could have been a book
The Clientele - Bookshop Cassanova
I didn’t get to make a Books are the New Boyfriend mixtape this year because I couldn’t find enough songs worthy enough of the series. But that’s ok, this will do. Maybe you’ll get a Summer tape instead.
Bruce Springsteen - Dancing in the Dark
Stay on the streets of this town
and they’ll be carving you up alright
They say you gotta stay hungry
hey baby I’m just about starving tonight
I’m dying for some action
I’m sick of sitting ‘round here trying to write this book
I need a love reaction
come on now baby gimme just one lookYou can’t start a fire sitting ‘round crying over a broken heart
This gun’s for hire
Even if we’re just dancing in the dark
Swoon times two! Not only does Mumford & Sons make great music, but Mr. Mumford himself has a book club.
Emily Haines and the Soft Skeleton - Reading in Bed
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Young Adult Fiction
Sufjan Stevens - A Good Man is Hard to Find
Sometime soon, when I’m not running around like a crazy person, I’ll write a review for Flannery O’Connor’s A Good Man is Hard to Find. But for now, you get this song.
